In a major boost to the Goldfields economy, the Cook Labor Government has today announced a civil works contract worth more than $30 million to start the construction of Stage One at Yilkari Industrial Park.

The successful contractor Ertech is expected to commence the construction of Stage One next month, which will eventually deliver 26 general industrial lots ranging from 2,500 square metres to 2 hectares.

The lots will be serviced with power, water, NBN and a new intersection with Anzac Drive to cater for heavy RAV10 vehicles.

Over the next decade, Yilkari is expected to deliver more than 70 general industrial lots attracting more than $200 million in private sector investment and creating more than 700 construction jobs.

Once completed, the estate is expected to support more than 850 permanent jobs and inject more than $300 million into the Kalgoorlie-Boulder economy annually.

As stated by Lands Minister John Carey:

"This is another significant investment in the Yilkari Industrial Park by the Cook Labor Government and will provide a major long-term boost to the Goldfields economy.

"By creating hundreds of new jobs and enabling businesses to expand or establish operations in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, we are positioning this region as a prime destination for investment and economic growth.

"The Goldfields has long been a powerhouse of Western Australia's resources sector, and this development will ensure that both new and existing businesses can capitalise on the growing demand for gold, rare earths, and lithium processing.

"This $30.8 million investment will provide the necessary utilities, transportation links and land availability - driving economic diversification and job opportunities for the Goldfields."

As stated by Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent:

"The Cook Labor Government understands the importance of investing in regional infrastructure to support our thriving resources industry - particularly right here in the Goldfields region.

"By directing investment to this critical project, we are sending a clear message that the Goldfields region is open for business.

"We encourage companies operating in the resources sector to take advantage of this prime industrial estate and contribute to the continued growth and success of Kalgoorlie-Boulder as a mining and processing hub."
