$31K in Cannabis Seized in Wagga Wagga Operation

A man and woman have been charged after cannabis and cash was seized during a traffic stop, part of the Riverina's two-day Operation Foil strategy.

Operation Foil ran from Thursday 19 December 2024 to Saturday 21 December 2024, with 500 officers from every police area command and police district in NSW – assisted by specialist officers from Youth Command, Police Transport and Public Safety Command, and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command – targeting locations known for violent offending, knife crime, possession of weapons and anti-social behaviour.

About 5pm on Friday 20 December 2024, police were patrolling when they stopped a ute at the intersection of Coppabella Drive and Turramia Crescent, Gobbagombalin, about 5km north-east of Wagga Wagga.

Police seized two bags from the ute, which they alleged contained $2900 in cash and 4.5kg of cannabis. The cannabis has an estimated street potential value of $23,800. A further $5200 was allegedly seized from the woman.

The driver - a 19-year-old man – and his passenger – an 18-year-old woman – were arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

The man was charged with supply prohibited drug greater than indictable, and less than commercial, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and drive licence suspended.

The woman was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

They were both granted conditional bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 19 February 2025.
