The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) is urging residents to put their green waste that has obstructed their access to their homes onto their kerbs by Sunday evening as green waste collection crews are ready to hit the road from 7am tomorrow.
Green waste collection will be undertaken simultaneously by 32 crews across all Townsville suburbs, with the first collections starting at 7am on Monday.
TLDMG Chair Jenny Hill said residents should place all green waste that needs to be collected on their kerb by tonight.
"We are deploying 32 crews across Townsville from 7am tomorrow to collect green waste that has blocked safe access into or out of residents' properties," Cr Hill said.
"What we are asking for is for residents to place that green waste on their kerbsides by tonight, as our crews will start collections at 7am tomorrow.
"You may not see a crew straight away, because they are starting simultaneously and working through their suburb groups until complete.
"Collection is for green waste only, so please do not bag this waste. Place it in a pile with your neighbours if possible, to make it easier for our crews to collect. Do not place green waste on the road.
"There may be some traffic direction as our crews work through these collections. I'm asking the community to please be patient while we complete this work.
"If you think your property has been missed, call 13 48 10.
"The community can also help us by reporting fallen trees on roads to 13 48 10.
"Thank you to our community for working together to get this green waste collection ready for Monday morning."
