Three manufacturers in Queensland's Darling Downs will turn cutting-edge technology into growth and opportunity after securing more than $3.2 million in combined funding from the Palaszczuk Government.
Minister for Manufacturing Cameron Dick said the $46 million Made in Queensland (MiQ) grants program will help create around 75 new jobs in the region over the next five years.
"Wagners CFT Manufacturing at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport has received more than $2 million through MiQ, allowing them to invest in advanced robotics technology and waste-minimising lean production technics," Mr Dick said.
"Embracing Industry 4.0 will see the company enhance their productivity, profitability and international competitiveness, and it will bring more job opportunities up the range.
"Orica Australia's Helidon operations, meanwhile, secured $1,007,243 for robotics and automated soldering technology, while Millmerran ag business DA Hall & Co will use their $184,304 grant to purchase automated cleaning equipment that will slash collection time across their multiple farms.
"MiQ is allowing these manufacturers and others to onshore work, extend their reach and employ more Queenslanders."
Wagners CFT Manufacturing CEO Cameron Coleman said the funding has sparked manufacturing improvements across the company
"The combined projects are anticipated to create more than 50 high-skilled jobs over five years," Mr Coleman said.
"Wagners CFT Manufacturing is a sophisticated world-leader in fibre composite design and development employing 119 staff. Our MiQ grants will help take our business to that next level."
Mr Dick said MiQ is helping local manufacturers expand, upskill and employ.
"Since 2017 the Palaszczuk Government has supported around 75 projects across Queensland through MiQ," Mr Dick said.
"The grants, which are matched by the manufacturers, will help create more than 930 new jobs over the next five years and are expected to generate approximately $92 million in private sector investment."
Shortlisted applicants for MiQ Round 3 have been invited to submit detailed applications.
