$4.2M Boost for Heavy Vehicle Road Safety

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Australian Government and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) have announced $4.2 million will be dedicated to industry-led road safety projects, in a major funding boost to heavy vehicle safety.

The funding is available through round 10 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI), with the aim of supporting projects that increase compliance and deliver safety benefits for the transport and logistics sector.

Project submissions must directly address at least one of the three themes - safer drivers, safer vehicles or safer road use.

Businesses or associations involved in the heavy vehicle industry looking to address a safety gap or issue are encouraged to apply for the grants program.

The Australian Government has already invested more than $41 million across 169 HVSI projects under the first nine rounds of the program, which are delivering outcomes aimed at making Australia's roads safer for all users.

Submissions for round 10 of the HVSI are now open and will close at 5pm AEST 17 February 2025.
