Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have recovered over 40,000 stolen limited edition Bluey coins during a search warrant in Wentworthville yesterday.
On Monday 12 July 2024, police received a report that a large amount of currency had been stolen from a warehouse in Wetherill Park.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command arrived and were told that 63,000 unreleased limited edition $1 Bluey coins – produced by the Australian Mint – had been stolen.
An investigation into the incident was commenced by State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Bandit.
To date, three people have been charged for their alleged involvement and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, about 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 29 October 2024), strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a self-storage facility in Wentworthville.
During the search, detectives located numerous Royal Australian Mint bags containing a total of $40,061 of the stolen Bluey coins.
Police also located and seized a number of power tools, clothing items, and bags, all believed to have been stolen.
Investigations under Strike Force Bandit continue.
