Goulburn local, Makayla Jones, is seeking assistance to cover ongoing expenses incurred while training and representing Australia in Hockey. Makayla has been a dedicated representative of Goulburn since 2015, starting at the age of 11, and has progressed through the NSW hockey representative system to be selected as part of the national U21 team, known as the Jillaroos.

Having recently participated in the Junior World Cup in Chile, Makayla has once again been selected in the 2024 Jillaroos squad and the Australian U23 team, which is set to tour Europe at the end of May to compete against teams from Belgium, Great Britain, and The Netherlands. While travel costs for the tour are covered, players are responsible for their food and equipment expenses, as well as managing their rental payments while away.

In light of these financial challenges, Makayla has requested $10,000 to help cover some of these expenses. At the Council Meeting held on 21 May 2024, Council approved a cash contribution of $5,000 to Makayla to assist in covering expenses incurred in representing Australia as part of both the U21 and U23 women's hockey teams.
