$55M Boost for Health Research on Disabilities, Injuries

The 2024 Improving Health Outcomes of People with Intellectual Disability grant opportunity will provide up to $20 million for research that:

  • improves understanding and uptake of preventive health care by people with intellectual disability
  • supports people with intellectual disability to access appropriate health care throughout their lives
  • improves the identification of health issues in people with intellectual disability.
  • early detection and better diagnosis of chronic respiratory conditions
  • improved quality of care for people with multiple chronic respiratory conditions
  • increased uptake of best-practice care and improved health outcomes for people in Priority Populations who have chronic respiratory conditions.

Funding is from the MRFF's Emerging Priorities and Consumer-Driven Research initiative.

The 2024 Chronic Respiratory Conditions grant opportunity will provide $22.25 million for projects that support:

Funding is from the MRFF's Preventive and Public Health Research initiative.

Up to $13 million is available under the 2024 Traumatic Brain Injury grant opportunity for research that:

  • helps people with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury receive personalised care
  • finds ways to improve the long-term health of people with mild traumatic brain injury
  • generates evidence to support existing personalised rehabilitation and care models
  • develops new personalised rehabilitation and care models for people with mild traumatic brain injury.
