$670K Boost for Regional Businesses from Government Fund

  • Forty-four small-to-medium-sized regional enterprises (SMEs) win Cook Labor Government grants
  • Latest Local Capability Fund (LCF) round held exclusively for regional SMEs
  • Grants enable regional businesses to supply goods and services across the State

More than $670,000 has been awarded to 44 regional businesses by the Cook Labor Government through the Local Capability Fund (LCF).

Minister Assisting the Minister for State and Industry Development Stephen Dawson said this latest round of LCF grant funding was focused exclusively on supporting small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Businesses could apply for grants up to $20,000 to assist with their operating expenditures.

A total of $674,817 was awarded to the 44 regional businesses, which includes agricultural, construction, tourism, hospitality, trade and wineries.

The successful recipients can use the funds to cover expenses such as buying or upgrading essential capital equipment, meeting essential pre-qualification requirements for supply chain entry or the purchase of expert consultancies on a range of business and market issues.

To date, the LCF has delivered more than $26 million to 716 businesses, including 374 regional businesses, across a range of industries.

The program has generated over $1.25 billion in new contracts won by WA SMEs and created 2,350 jobs and 297 apprenticeships, representing $48 of contracts won by WA SMEs for every $1 of LCF funding awarded.

As stated by Minister Assisting the Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade Stephen Dawson:

"The Local Capability Fund (LCF) continues to provide funds for WA businesses to reach their next stages in growth and help them cover essential expenses.

"The Cook Labor Government is focused on ensuring regional businesses get the same opportunities as others and this round of funding was specifically designed and aimed to assist interested businesses outside of the metro area.

"The LCF has been an incredibly valuable tool for WA businesses and to date has generated well over a $1 billion in new contracts for local SMEs."
