$6M Boost for Brain Cancer Research and Therapies

Department of Health

Around 2,000 Australians develop brain cancer every year. Over the last 30 years, the number of people surviving other types of cancers has steadily improved. However, the five-year relative survival rate for brain cancer has remained at around 23%.

The 2024 Brain Cancer Discovery and Translation grant opportunity will provide $6 million to support medical research and innovation projects that:

  • help us understand the causes of brain cancer
  • identify and validate new therapeutic strategies for brain cancer
  • develop new therapies for people with brain cancer.

Funding is from the MRFF's Australian Brain Cancer Mission.
