A 70-year-old Mount Compass man is due before Victor Harbor Magistrates Court to face a charge of ill-treatment of an animal to cause death or serious harm.
It is alleged that in October last year the defendant failed to take reasonable steps to mitigate serious harm suffered by a cow that had become stuck shoulder-deep in water in a dam on the defendant's property, and that the defendant left the cow to become exhausted and die.
A 56-year-old Semaphore Park woman has been charged with two counts of ill-treatment of an animal. The woman allegedly failed to provide adequate and appropriate food and water for eight cats and failed to provide adequate and appropriate living conditions for the animals.

The four-year-old female cat was suffering from multiple abscesses in and around her mouth, ulceration of her tongue, stomatitis, infected ears and dental disease. Due to the cat's extreme poor condition, she was humanely euthanased.
A 38-year-old Morphett Vale woman is facing one count of failure to comply with a court order made in 2021 that prohibited her from acquiring or having custody of any animals until further order.
It will be alleged that the woman was found to have custody of two dogs, three cats and two lizards when RSPCA SA inspectors attended at her property on 17 November 2023.

A 53-year-old woman is facing 18 counts of ill-treatment of an animal in relation to 124 rabbits and seven budgies found at her property in Hackham West in August 2023.
It will be alleged that the animals were being kept in squalid and unsanitary conditions and that some of the rabbits were emaciated. It will be further alleged that the woman failed to obtain veterinary treatment for rabbits suffering from a range of medical conditions including a broken leg, infected eyes and abscesses.
The matter is due before the Christies Beach Magistrates Court this month.

A 35-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife are due to face the Port Pirie Magistrates Court this month charged with five counts of ill treatment of an animal.
It will be alleged that the couple failed to provide appropriate and adequate living conditions and drinking water for 48 rabbits and five guinea pigs being kept at their Jamestown property, and that they failed to obtain veterinary treatment for a dog. The elderly dog was humanely euthanased. The other animals were seized and remain in protective custody with RSPCA SA.
A 29-year-old man is facing one count of ill treatment of an animal to cause death or serious harm under SA's Animal Welfare Act. It will be alleged that the man (who holds no veterinary qualifications) recklessly caused a dog serious harm after castrating the animal's testicles.
The man is also alleged to have failed to seek veterinary care for the dog, who was located at the man's Parafield Gardens property with a necrotic open wound from the castration. The dog remains in protective custody with RSPCA SA.
The matter is due for the first time before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court this month.
