700 Health Jobs At Risk Under Liberal Cuts

Tas Labor

New information has revealed the potential extent of the Liberals' dangerous health cuts, which medical experts are saying will cost Tasmanian lives.

RTI documents obtained by Labor show that more than 700 positions are not 'funded' across the health department, leaving them at risk of being cut under the Liberals' vacancy control measures.

Tasmania is in a health crisis with ballooning surgery waitlists, record high ambulance response times and rampant ramping.

The Government's focus should be on improving health services and conditions for the dedicated workers who deliver them - not cutting health workers' jobs.

The Liberals are in this position because they have mismanaged the budget for 10 years - Tasmanians patients shouldn't have to suffer the consequences of their financial recklessness, and nor should our dedicated health workers.

Asking overloaded front-line staff to do more, while their colleagues have their jobs cut, is not the way to fix this Government's broken health system.
