70kg Cannabis Seized in South Brisbane Operation 29 August

Police have charged a man and a woman, both aged 28 from Sunnybank, with additional drug offences after they were detained at Sydney airport while allegedly attempting to leave the country.

It is alleged the pair were on bail for drug offences relating to the discovery of 70 kilograms of cannabis, worth over half a million dollars, allegedly being sold through a drug network operating online and via social media.

Officers from Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigations Branch extradited the man and the woman back to Queensland on August 28.

They have both been further charged with one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime defined in Part 2 and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

Bail was denied and both are expected to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today, August 29.

Investigations are ongoing.
