From 11 to 13 June 2024, the Max Planck Society is hosting various events in Berlin
Approximately 700 internal and external guests are expected to attend the 75th Annual Meeting of the Max Planck Society. In addition to committee meetings, two events stand out in particular: the presentation of the Max Planck Start-up Award by the Stifterverband on Tuesday evening, and the Plenary Assembly on Wednesday evening.
On Wednesday evening at 7.00 pm, the AXICA event location at Pariser Platz in Berlin will open its doors for the highlight of the 75th MPG Annual Meeting. High-ranking speakers will discuss the topic of 'Climate change and international politics: global challenges and solutions'.

Start-up Award for a revolutionary new battery technology
The winner of this year's Start-up Award is Batene GmbH, a spin-off from the MPI for Medical Research. The team is being honoured for a new technology that significantly enhances battery efficiency and cost-effectiveness, potentially making a substantial contribution to the transition to electromobility. The prize, worth 30,000 euros, will be presented at Asanta, Berlin-Charlottenburg.
Panel on climate change and international politics
Climate change, as one of the most pressing issues of our time, will also be a focal point at the Plenary Assembly, recognizing it as a global problem with significant geopolitical implications. The Max Planck Society has been researching this topic extensively from both scientific and legal perspectives. Renowned guests will discuss international law and economic challenges related to climate change and climate migration. The panel includes: Filippo Grandi, High Commissioner for Refugees at the United Nations, Anna Lührmann, Minister of State for Europe and Climate at the Federal Foreign Office, Anne Peters, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, and Axel Ockenfels, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods.
The discussion will be moderated by Helene Bubrowski, deputy editor-in-chief of Table.Media.
