Just 8 days to go until the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games! Super exciting!
Today also marks the beginning of the "BLACKOUT PERIOD" which runs for the duration of the Games Period of 18 July to 13 August 2024.
What does this mean?
It means that there are certain rules and guidelines in place which govern how athletes and officials, selected or appointed to the Olympic Team, may use their name or image during the Games Period. These rules and guidelines include Rule 40, Rule 50 and Social Media Guidelines.
Why is this important?
These rules and guidelines are important and will be enforced to protect the exclusive rights of Olympic Partners and the integrity of the Olympic Games. All breaches will be taken seriously and consequences may include an athlete being removed from the Olympic Team.
Who is impacted by these rules and guidelines?
Athletes, National Olympic Committees (eg Australian Olympic Committee), National Sporting Organisations (eg Shooting Australia), International Federations (eg ISSF), athletes' personal sponsors and commercial entities not affiliated with the Olympic Games are examples of those who must comply with the rules and guidelines.
Will Shooting Australia be providing coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?
Shooting Australia will be working closely with the Australian Olympic Committee and accredited and rightsholder media to provide coverage of the Shooting competitions throughout the Games, while ensuring compliance with the enforced rules and guidelines.
