Congratulations to Wyndham City's school crossing supervisor Wayne Sperling who took home the state's Region 6 Award for School Crossing Supervisor of the Year 2023/2024!
Wayne, who manages a crossing at Point Cook P-9 Crossing, was also nominated for School Crossing Supervisor of the Year in 2023.
Thirty-eight of Wyndham's School Crossing Supervisors were nominated for the School Crossing Supervisor of the Year.
Three of the Wyndham supervisors were shortlisted as finalists for Region 6, including Wayne, Emma Taylor, and Karolynne Ford.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera congratulated Wayne and the other two finalists on their success.
"Our crossing supervisors perform such an important role in our City, helping to keep children safe as they move to and from school," she said.
"It's also great to know that we had 38 nominations representing Wyndham showing that we've got some amazing crossing supervisors who are valued by our community."
"Our local School Crossing Supervisors step out rain or shine, showing dedication to keeping our children and residents safe," she said.
"It's a good time to remind drivers to respect the direction of our crossing supervisors - to slow when signed and to remind walkers to wait for direction to safely cross the road."
