Motorists are advised night closures on Abbotsford Bridge at Curlwaa will be postponed to September.
Work originally planned to start on Monday 23 August will now be carried out from mid-September, to reattach and rebalance the lift span, returning the bridge to normal operation.
This delay is due to the complex nature of repairing the heritage bridge and delays with manufacturing the bespoke components for the lift span.
Night closures will be in place Sunday to Thursday nights between 9pm and 6am for five weeks from Monday 20 September, weather permitting.
Meanwhile, the community is advised the bridge will open to traffic on Saturday 21 August, following six weeks of closures to replace the timber deck.
The lift span will continue to be out of operation during the project and will return to operation from Saturday 23 October, weather permitting.
Smaller marine vessels will still be able to travel under the bridge however owners of larger vessels should consider postponing their journey.
During night closures, traffic will be detoured via George Chaffey Bridge in Mildura, adding up to an extra 40 minutes to journeys.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
