The recent assaults on Northern Territory police officers in Wadeye are absolutely abhorrent and will not be tolerated.
This is the third separate attack on police in just three days.
This violence must stop.
Our police officers risk their lives every day to protect our communities.
They deserve our respect and support, not to be targets of violence.
Under our Government's new reducing crime laws, offenders convicted of assaulting frontline workers face a mandatory minimum sentence of three months' imprisonment.
These laws send a clear message: the safety of our police is paramount, and those who commit such disgraceful acts will face the full force of the law.
There is no place for this behaviour in the Northern Territory.
We will continue to stand by our police as they continue to keep the community safe.
