The Territory Labor Government is boosting Aboriginal tourism to grow the sector and support the Territory's vision to be a premier destination for unique Aboriginal tourism experiences.
The Aboriginal tourism grants support the development of Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences and product that encourage visitors to travel to the NT and stay longer.
The funding can be used to upgrade or develop new infrastructure or develop new product such as on country accommodation or Aboriginal cultural experiences.
Larrakia Development Corporation is one of 8 recipients to receive funding in the latest round of Aboriginal Tourism Grants that saw a total of $590,000 awarded.
Larrakia Development Corporation was awarded $46,700 for specialist advice on product development ahead of their Larrakia Cultural Centre anticipated to open in 2025.
The Larrakia Cultural Centre will be built at the base of the Larrakia sacred site at Stokes Hill overlooking Darwin Harbour, providing an opportunity for visitors to explore Larrakia history, arts and crafts as well as dine in a signature restaurant overlooking Darwin harbour.
