Appalachian Research Day: Come Sit on the Porch is an annual conference now in its 10th year. Hosted by the University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health (UK CERH), the event is an opportunity to share results of health research conducted with communities in Appalachia. The event will be held in person April 16, 2025, at The Corbin Center, in Corbin, Kentucky.
Abstracts for podium and poster presentations may be submitted here by Dec. 3.
This year's conference will include oral presentations, a poster competition, an art contest for high school students, networking opportunities and a health and research fair. High school students from across the region will present numerous research projects during a shared session for Healthy WAY, a youth leadership and research development program created by the UK CERH for rural Kentucky high school students.
An awards session will recognize poster winners, art contest winners and the nominees and winner of the annual UK-CARES/UK CERH Environmental Health Community Engagement Award.
"Appalachian Research Day: Come Sit on the Porch is all about community and coming together to talk about how we work together to be healthier," said Fran Feltner, D.N.P., director of the UK CERH. "It has been our honor to bring this conference to our community for the last 10 years and we look forward to another wonderful opportunity for learning and networking."
