Academic Shares Expertise On 80th Anniversary Of D-Day

Dr Harry Bennett, Associate Professor in History, was interviewed by the world's media as commemorations took place for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
In late May, he addressed those attending an event on Plymouth Hoe which saw the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's torch of commemoration arrive in Plymouth. After the event, Dr Bennett gave interviews to the BBC and ITV that were broadcast on TV and radio over the subsequent hours.
Also in late May, he was interviewed by the Czech national broadcaster CT24 for a piece about Operation Tiger and the preparations for D-Day. The story also featured on the broadcaster's website.
More recently, he has spoken to BBC Future magazine about the marine conservation legacy of D-Day shipwrecks, later covering the same topic in a live interview with The World, a public radio programme broadcast right across the United States.
He was also interviewed by Devon Life, BBC Radio Devon and the Podded History of Devon podcast about the role the county played in the D-Day landings.
