Works are underway in Acheron to complete planned bank stabilisation works, which involve placement of rock (rip rap) along the eroded bank on the north side of the Goulburn River at Breakaway Bridge.
Breakaway Bridge suffered significant damage resulting from the October 2022 Floods, including the loss of the northern bridge abutment and one bridge span.
Bank stabilisation works are occurring within the road reserve and outside the road reserve to stabilise the banks and to protect the road asset.
Contractors have been able to safely access the area after completing pre-construction works and the significant decrease in water levels. Completion is expected to be in early September.
These works are funded under the Disaster Recovery Fund Arrangement (DRFA), which is an agreement between the State and the Commonwealth.
