ACMI Announces World-Premiere Summer Exhibition

VIC Premier

Nature and technology will come together this summer at ACMI with a major new exhibition by one of the world's leading immersive art collectives, London's Marshmallow Laser Feast, backed by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Creative Industries Steve Dimopoulos today announced that the exhibition Marshmallow Laser Feast: Works of Nature will have its world-premiere at ACMI, taking over Gallery 4 at the Fed Square Museum from 23 November to host the art collective's first major exhibition in Australia.

Featuring five large-scale digital works, the exhibition uses cutting-edge technology to explore the majesty of the natural world - from droplets of water and cells of the human body all the way through to black holes.

Marshmallow Laser Feast is a creative studio exploring the line between virtual and real-world experiences and a leader in creating immersive art experiences - previously exhibiting around the world including exhibitions at Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals, London's V&A and Design Museum, the Lisbon Triennial and Istanbul Design Biennial.

Their new exhibition, Works of Nature has been developed in collaboration with acclaimed creatives including Australian cinema legend Cate Blanchett, filmmaker Terrence Malick, award-winning novelist Daisy Lafarge, and musicians Johnny Greenwood, Meredith Monk, Jon Hopkins, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Howard Skempton.

The summer exhibition will mark another exciting world-premiere for ACMI as their Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition Goddess: Power, Rebellion, Glamour prepares to close on Sunday 1 October.

Marshmallow Laser Feast: Works of Nature will be on display at ACMI from 23 November to 14 April 2024. For more information visit acmi.net.au.
