Additional Charges in Tamworth Firearms, Vehicle Theft

A man will face court after vehicles and firearms were allegedly stolen from a home in Tamworth last year.

About 4.30am on Saturday 28 September 2024, officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a home on Maralinga Crescent, Tamworth, following reports of an alleged break and enter.

Police were told two vehicles, and seven firearms were taken from the premises.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 12.15pm on Saturday 28 September 2025, police executed a crime scene warrant at a home on Robert Street, Tamworth, where seven firearms, clothing and a knife were seized and three boys – aged 13, 14 and 15 – were arrested.

They have since been charged and appeared at children's court.

Following further inquiries, about 8.30am today (Tuesday 3 June 2025), police arrested a 20-year-old man at a home on Alice Street, Tamworth.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with 16 offences:

  • Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000
  • Seven counts of possess unauthorised firearm
  • Seven counts of use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or parts, and
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Tuesday 3 June 2025), where he was refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 11 June 2025.
