Adelaide Hills Commuters Get Boost with Expanded Crafers Park n Ride

SA Gov

Commuters in the Adelaide Hills will be able to easily and conveniently take advantage of public transport with the opening today of the new Crafers Park 'n' Ride.

The new Park 'n' Ride makes more parking options available during the morning peak, with 85 additional parking spaces - including accessible bays and motorcycle parking.

The new Park 'n' Ride is situated southeast of the existing Crafers Park 'n' Ride, adjacent to the off-ramp (westbound) and South Eastern Freeway. It has easy access from the Freeway, and will reduce the number of cars parking in local side streets.

The total number of parking spaces is now more than 120 across the two locations.

Increased safety and security are a feature, with new lighting and CCTV cameras to ensure people feel safe and secure when parking their vehicles.

There is also a mural featuring Australian fauna and flora, created by local artist Cat Dean.

The Malinauskas Labor Government committed $6 million to deliver the additional parking at the Crafers Park 'n' Ride, and the project has supported approximately 25 full-time equivalent jobs during the construction period.

As put by Tom Koutsantonis

Park 'n' Rides are an important feature of our public transport network, as they give people a safe, secure and convenient access point to catch a bus to their destination.

These additional parking spaces at the Crafers Park 'n' Ride means fewer vehicles heading into the city, which helps to reduce traffic congestion and is better for our environment.

Using Park 'n' Rides is an efficient and affordable way to commute into the city without the hassle of putting extra kilometres on your vehicle or paying for expensive parking. It will also make it easier to catch public transport to other Hills communities.

We know the population of the Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker is increasing, and the Malinauskas Government is committed to investing in infrastructure and public transport that accommodates this growth.
