ADFA Open Day Welcomes Potential ADF Leaders

Department of Defence

The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) opens its doors to young Australians tomorrow, giving them an insight into the diverse roles available to them as officers in the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Through informative tours and presentations, interactive demonstrations and engagement with ADF personnel and current trainee officers, the ADFA Open Day provides a comprehensive overview of the opportunities available at ADFA, and more broadly across the ADF.

Chief of Personnel, Lieutenant General Natasha Fox, said the annual ADFA Open Day provided potential trainee officers and their families an opportunity to see where a career in the ADF might lead.

"ADFA provides people with the opportunity to pursue their educational interests across a wide range of academic disciplines, from engineering to arts; science, business and information technology," Lieutenant General Fox said.

"The education provided at ADFA sets our trainee officers up for a future career in the ADF, including further opportunities for study and training."

Lieutenant General Fox said ADFA instilled the values and skills necessary to excel as a leader in the ADF, with a focus on leadership, discipline, and personal growth.

"ADF people are dedicated and motivated individuals who share a common purpose, and the experience of service can form bonds that last a lifetime," she said.

"I encourage young Australians to consider an ADF career, where they will be rewarded with a sense of camaraderie, teamwork and purpose from the beginning, whether that is through ADFA or another pathway to service."

For those unable to attend the ADFA Open Day in person, a virtual-live Open Day is available at ADFA Open Day - Home (adfcareers.gov.au)
