The latest Building a Skilled Workforce grant programs will be released next week, delivering cost of living relief for Tasmanian learners wanting training and bolstering our local workforces in key industries.
The grants will make training more affordable, helping job seekers, those looking at a career change, or employers looking to develop and upskill their workers.
Minister for Skills and Training, Felix Ellis, said the government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is supporting people with the cost of training and driving the future of a job-ready Tasmania.
"These grants will deliver training where people need it and at a price they can afford," Minister Ellis said.
"The Jobseeker Fund will support training for Tasmanians by subsidising the cost of nationally recognised training, as well as delivering learner support and work placements for learners who are jobseekers or underemployed, or people looking to upskill or gain new skills outside of their current employment.
"The Building a Skilled Workforce program will provide job and career opportunities for Tasmanians while providing our industries with the skilled workers they need to increase productivity and drive growth.
"This support comes at the right time for Tasmanians wanting to explore opportunities to learn new skills and build their careers.
"These grants will support many people who would love to take up a course but are feeling the pinch from national cost of living increases in interest rates, food and fuel."
A total of $12.6 million in funding is available for the 2025 Building a Skilled Workforce Program. It is anticipated this will support up to 6000 Tasmanians to undertake training in 2025.
The Jobseeker Fund and Existing Worker Fund will open to applications from Skills Tasmania-endorsed Registered Training Organisations on Monday 9 September, supporting learners across the state.
Grant applications will close on 7 October 2024.
