Afghan Man Charged With Seven Visa Breaches In NSW

An Afghanistan-born man is set to appear before Burwood Local Court today (3 September, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 35, on Monday 2 September, after he was located in Sydney, NSW.

It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa by being within an exclusion zone on seven occasions between 29 August and 31 August.

The man has been charged with:

  • Seven counts of failing to remain 200 metres outside the exclusion zone of a school, contrary to section 76DAB(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

Each offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
