Judy Payne and Carolyn Crompton raise a glass to their mother Agnes Munt, the newest member of Carinity's '100 Club' for centenarians.
It's somewhat fitting that Agnes Munt had her first beer on the day she turned 100 years old.
After all, the long-time Ipswich resident's amazing life began when she was born in a hotel!
Family members raised a glass to the new centenarian at the Pumpyard Bar & Brewery in Ipswich on 14 June - a bar with as much history as Agnes!
Agnes, who lives at the Carinity Colthup Manor aged care community, is now a member of a very exclusive club with 4,250 other centenarians in Australia.
During her life, she has seen man land on the moon, the invention of television and the advent of the computer age.
Agnes was born at the Pioneer Hotel in Linville, near Kilcoy - which was managed by her parents - on 14 June 1919.
In 1940, Agnes married truck driver William "George" Munt. Together they had seven girls and one boy and also raised their grandson. Sadly, George and four of Agnes's children have passed away.
Renowned as a great cook and a master of crotchet and knitting who loved to knit jumpers for her family, Agnes enjoys puzzle books, bus trips to shopping centres and visiting places of interest with her daughters.
Agnes, whose husband passed away in 1979, moved to Carinity Colthup Manor six years ago.
"Agnes lives her life saying what she means and meaning what she says. Her family say that she has never let anything get her down," Carinity Colthup Manor Residential Manager Jo King says.
"In the same year that her only son passed away, Agnes had two knee replacements. As she was leaving the hospital on crutches after her second knee replacement, she exited the doors, looked back and saw that no one was watching so she threw down her crutches and left.
"Agnes never obtained a driver's licence, neither did she smoke or drink, but she told her family that when she turns 100 years old she wants to 'go to the pub and have a beer!' It was well-deserved!"
Agnes's visit to the bar was followed by a birthday party with family, friends, Carinity staff and local MPs at the Colthup Manor aged care community.
