"The national employer association Ai Group congratulates Steven Miles on his appointment as the new Queensland Premier," Dean Deighton, Ai Group's acting Queensland Head said today.
"Premier Miles and his new deputy Cameron Dick have a challenging task ahead to meet the demands of a rapidly growing population amid significant cost of living pressures.
"The leadership transition comes at a time when there is a need to increase the supply of housing and when there are massive infrastructure plans for the State in areas such as the energy transition and the preparations for the Olympic Games.
"Ai Group urges the new Premier and his team to work closely with the building and construction industry and its supply chains to lift capacity, improve productivity and efficiency and to ensure there is a supportive regulatory environment.
"In laying out his vision for the next term of government, business expects to see the Premier give priority to the training and education of the current and future workforce and to lifting business investment, innovation and private sector employment.
"We thank outgoing Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for her contribution to public life over such a long period and we wish her well for the future," Mr Deighton said.
