4 November 2024
As part of the Falling Walls Science Summit, leading HPC developers, AI experts and researchers will come together at a plenary table on 8 November 2024 to discuss how high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence can tackle today's critical societal challenges. Also attending: Prof. Dr Astrid Lambrecht, Chair of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich.
The Falling Walls Science Summit is an international conference highlights scientific breakthroughs and innovative ideas. The summit takes place every year in Berlin, Germany, from 7 to 9 November around the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The panel "HPC and AI Solutions: A Collective International Effort" will take place on 8 November from 17:00 to 17:50 at the Falling Walls Science House. It will be streamed online and can be followed or watched afterwards free of charge via livestream after registration. Particapants will receive email updates and links to the live sessions.
The panel discussion will be hosted by David Patrician (RTL Nord). Other panellists are Richard Socher (you.com), John Josephakis (NVIDIA), Kohei Itoh (Keio University) and Paul Kearns (Argonne National Laboratory).
JUPITER, Europe´s first exascale supercomputer, is currently being installed at Forschungszentrum Jülich. The JUPITER booster module is expected to achieve a performance of at least one quintillion calculations per second. This enormous computing power will advance scientific simulations and artificial intelligence: Fields of application include the training of large neural networks such as AI language models, simulations for the development of functional materials, the development of digital twins of the human heart or brain for medical purposes, the validation of quantum computers and high-resolution climate simulations covering the entire Earth system.
