Update: Supporting customers impacted by North Queensland floods
IAG teams are on the ground in flood-affected communities
IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU, WFI and ROLLiN', has Major Event Specialist teams on the ground providing face to face support for customers and communities impacted by the devastating extreme rainfall and flooding across North and Far North Queensland.
IAG Claims Consultants, Assessors and partner builders have been deployed across the region, including in some of the worst-affected areas that have been isolated, such as Ingham and Cardwell.
The teams are arranging immediate help for customers, inspecting damage to properties, and conducting emergency Make-Safe repairs.
An NRMA Insurance HELP Response Vehicle, which is one of our mobile claims centres, was able to access Ingham yesterday (11.02.25), with the team providing face to support for customers, arranging temporary accommodation and emergency financial assistance.
Claims personnel are also supporting customers at the Townsville Sports Stadium and Cardwell Community Hall (details below) from 9am - 4pm daily.
IAG Assessors are inspecting the damage to properties and visiting customers yet to lodge a claim to check their safety and arrange immediate claims support, if required.
As of Wednesday 12 February 2025, IAG has received 571 claims across its brands (since 26 January 2025), with the majority of claims at this stage from customers affected by severe weather in Ingham, Cardwell and Kirwan.
IAG Managing Director and CEO Nick Hawkins and NRMA Insurance Executive General Manager Claims Luke Gallagher last week joined IAG's specialist teams on the ground who are assisting customers across the region.
"Our teams are supporting hundreds of affected customers in North Queensland. Our assessors and partner builders have continued moving further into flood-affected areas as soon as they were safe to access, with the priority of ensuring our customers are safe and we can help them get back on their feet," Mr Hawkins said.
NRMA Insurance Executive General Manager Claims Luke Gallagher said the priority was reaching all customers impacted by the extreme rainfall and floods.
"Our specialist teams are deployed across the region so our customers can sit down with our consultants to discuss their claim, and the range of support measures we have available," Mr Gallagher said.
Our Assessing teams are visiting customers who we believe may have been impacted to check their safety, provide immediate help and to begin the recovery and repair process as quickly as possibleLuke Gallagher

"Our Assessors are also discussing options with customers to make their homes safer and more resilient during the repair process, including waterproof materials to better protect floors and walls, and raising the height of electrical power points and sockets in the home."
What to do if your home has been impacted by flooding:
• Only return to your property when emergency services have given the go ahead.
• You can start cleaning up but first take pictures or videos of damage to the property and contents to support your insurance claim.
• Remove water damaged items from your property such as saturated carpets and soft furnishings.
• Keep a record of model or serial numbers of items you are throwing away to help replace them.
