Aid for NSW Storm-Hit Customers Announced

Update: Supporting customers impacted by NSW severe storms

IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU, WFI and ROLLiN', is on the ground providing further support in the areas of New South Wales most affected by last week's severe storms.

IAG's Claims and Assessing teams, and its partner builders, have been providing immediate support for customers whose homes were impacted by the severe winds and heavy rainfall.

The majority of claims are for property damage caused by the very strong winds that uprooted trees and for tree branches falling on homes, with subsequent rainwater damage through roofs and windows.

The teams have undertaken more than 860 property assessments, conducted over 350 emergency make-safe repairs to secure properties, and are scheduling repairs to get underway as quickly as possible.

NRMA Insurance Executive General Manager Claims Luke Gallagher said: "Our 24/7 Major Event Response Team ensures we're well prepared before severe weather strikes so we can respond as quickly and effectively as possible for our customers.

"We've deployed our NRMA Insurance HELP Response Vehicles to some of the most affected areas of the state to provide further face-to-face support for our customers.

Our HELP Response Vehicles are mobile claims centres, so customers can sit down with our team, discuss their claim and the repair process, and receive immediate help close to home.

A NRMA Insurance HELP Response Vehicle is in Thornton, near Maitland from today, where we've received around 210 claims, including from the surrounding area, and approximately 2,180 claims from across the wider Hunter region.

Since last Thursday (16 January 2025), a HELP Response Vehicle has been supporting our customers in Glen Innes, where we received more than 300 claims from a hailstorm the previous weekend.

Mr Gallagher encouraged customers impacted by last week's storms to contact their insurer as soon as possible so we can provide immediate help.

"Customers can contact us through the NRMA Insurance app, online, at one of our branches, or over the phone to lodge their claim, and we can provide them with immediate support such as emergency financial assistance and temporary accommodation.
