The Albanese and Rockliff Governments are continuing to support communities across Tasmania who have been impacted by recent severe storms and flooding.
Through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), Recovery and Restoration Grants have been made available to support low-income Tasmanians whose homes have been damaged by the storms and flooding.
The Recovery and Restoration Grants provide people with support through the:
- Replacement of Essential Household Grants, providing up to $11,450 available depending on the size of the affected property.
- Repair and Restoration Works Grants which will help to re-establish the principal place of residence to a basic, minimum standard, to allow it to be inhabited (up to $11,450 available)
Minister for Emergency Management Jenny McAllister said the Australian and Tasmanian Governments were working together and committed to supporting the needs of impacted communities.
"These grants will help low-income families replace household goods, and repair homes following the severe storms and floods.
"We know recovery takes time. The Albanese Government is committed to supporting impacted Tasmanians to get back on their feet.
"We are working closely with the Tasmanian Government to ensure communities get the support they need to recover."
Premier of Tasmania Jeremy Rockliff said the Tasmanian Government continues to work closely with communities throughout the recovery and clean up from the severe weather.
"The Recovery and Restoration Grants will support the medium to longer term recovery needs of affected communities," Premier Rockliff said.
"These grants will provide assistance to Tasmanians who need extra help to recover from the destructive weather.
"Our government acted swiftly to support Tasmanians, and I want to thank the Australian Government for its partnership as the recovery ramps up."
From 2pm Wednesday 11 September 2024, affected individuals can apply for Recovery and Restoration Grants online.
The grants will be available for 3 months after impact. Applications can be submitted subject to the outcome of insurance claims.
Today's announcement builds on the disaster assistance for Tasmanian storm and flood affected communities announced earlier this week.
