Air Force Photo Team Joins 2024 Defense Warrior Games

Team Air Force from the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program participated in the 2024 Department of Defense Warrior Games, which kicked off June 22 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The 10-day event is composed of more than 200 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans from the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, U.S. Special Operations Command, and representatives from the Australian Defence Force. The teams competed in adaptive sporting events, including archery, cycling, indoor rowing, powerlifting, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby.

The Warrior Games are designed to enhance the recovery journeys of wounded, ill, injured service members and veterans outside of traditional therapy settings, bringing the community together for recovery in real time. Adaptive sporting events, such as the Warrior Games, help program participants to garner the skills, connections and resources necessary to overcome any mental, physical, spiritual and emotional challenges they face.
