From the beaches of Glenelg to the hills of Willunga, Air Force proudly supported the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under across the Adelaide area in late January.
Santos Tour Down Under assistant race director Carlee Taylor received a passenger experience flight in a PC-21 courtesy of the Roulettes, and two PC-21 aircraft from the Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) conducted a formation flypast over the start line in Glenelg of the men's Stage 4 race on January 24.
Taking Ms Taylor flying was Roulette Two and Adelaide local Flight Lieutenant David Burnard.
"It was really special taking Carlee up flying over our home state," he said.
"We shared a few stories about our time growing up in Adelaide and flew over areas where she did a lot of bike riding and started her professional cycling career.
"It's a lot quicker and way easier to get over a hill in a PC-21."
ARDU Flight Commander - Edinburgh and flight test engineer Squadron Leader Isaac Lawless said the flypast over Glenelg was a great way to add some excitement ahead of the race and give back to the community.
"ARDU has called Adelaide home since the 1970s and we're honoured to be supporting one of SA's premier sporting events," Squadron Leader Lawless said.
"Growing up in Adelaide, I vividly remember watching the F/A-18 Hornet display at the Clipsal 500 and deciding that I was destined for Air Force.
"Fifteen years later, it's my turn to be in the aircraft, hopefully inspiring the next generation to pursue an exciting career in the RAAF."
