Geraldton Detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident in Ajana, north of Northampton, on Friday 23 February 2024.
About 11:40pm, the victim was driving on North West Coastal Highway when he was followed by another vehicle for several kilometres. The victim turned off onto Murphy Road and stopped his vehicle.
It will be alleged the driver of the vehicle following him, who is known to the victim, stopped at the same location, exited his vehicle and approached the victim's vehicle, before striking the vehicle and the victim with an axe. The victim received minor injuries.
The victim drove away from the area and it will be further alleged the same man continued to follow him and rammed his vehicle from behind while driving on North West Coastal Highway.
Yesterday, Sunday 25 February 2024, a 59-year-old Kalbarri man, who is known to the victim, was arrested by Geraldton Detectives in Port Denison. He has been charged with:
- With intent to harm, did an act causing bodily harm
- Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property
- Reckless Driving
He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court today, Monday 26 February 2024.
