Albury Officer Assault: Police Seek Public's Help

Police are appealing for information after a police officer was assaulted in the State's South.

About 10:35pm on Saturday 31 August 2024, two officers responded to reports of a robbery on David Street, Albury.

While responding, the officers spotted another two males walking north along McCauley Street, North Albury.

The officers stopped the vehicle and asked the two males to stop, however they kept walking.

When the Senior Constable approached the males, one male swung a scooter and hit the officer in the head, before the two males fled.

The Senior Constable chased the men for short time, before stopping due to his injuries. His colleague assisted until NSW Ambulance arrived.

NSW Ambulance treated the 35-year-old male officer for two wounds to his head which required stitches. He was taken to Albury Hospital for treatment. He has since returned to work.

Police have released CCTV images and they want to speak to the two men pictured who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The first male is described as approximately 175cm tall, medium build, with dark facial hair, wearing a black hoodie, and denim pants.

The second male is described as approximately 175cm tall, medium build with an orange beard, grey Nike tech fleece hoodie and black pants.
