Northern Territory Police have seized alcohol destined for a remote community in the Central Desert Region.
At 4:45pm on Tuesday 24 October, police performed a routine stop on a Ford Fiesta Hatchback, containing three occupants, travelling on the Tanami Highway within an Alcohol Restricted Area.
The search located 9 litres of spirits and case of beer, all of which was seized by officers.
A 38-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman will be issued Notices to Appear in the Darwin Local Court for the offences of bringing, possessing and supplying liquor into a restricted area.
Acting Superintendent Daniel Bell said "Alcohol fuelled violence and harm has a staggering effect on our most vulnerable communities. Alcohol Restricted Areas are in place to protect those communities by helping to ensure its residents have a safe place to live without the impact of alcohol.
"To bring alcohol, with the intent to supply at a highly inflated price, is a serious offence with far reaching consequences."
