The CLP Government's asphalt repairs to the Alice Springs CBD are now complete.
Works have been completed ahead of schedule, with line marking now being finalised and expected to be complete by the end of the weekend, Sunday 22 December 2024.
Works began on Sunday 8 December 2024, and included asphalt repairs across:
Hartley Street;Bath Street;Parsons Street; andGregory Terrace.
Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure, Bill Yan MLA, welcomed the repairs being completed a day early and ahead of the busy Christmas period.
"Thank you to all Alice Springs residents and businesses for your patience while we undertook these urgent asphalt repairs," said Mr Yan.
"We know issues with these roads have been impacting on the amenity in Alice. The issues of bitumen bleed have now been rectified, with contractors now finalising line marking.
"All works were completed at night to further reduce any disruptions to the CBD and reduce impacts to local businesses'.
"Thank you to the Department and to the contractors for completing these repairs ahead of schedule and ahead of our long hot summer in Alice."
The Department continues to work with specialists to determine the issues of bitumen bleed as part of the initial works to reseal the four CBD roads.
