Alice Springs: Police Hunt Stolen Vehicle Info

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to a stolen motor vehicle incident that occurred in Alice Springs early this morning.

Around 4.15am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report that a Nissan X-Trail had allegedly followed and collided with the front of a taxi on Cummings Street, causing minor damage.

Four armed male youths have exited the Nissan and allegedly approached the taxi. The taxi driver locked the doors and drove away from the area, attending the police station to report the incident a short time later.

The Nissan was later confirmed as being stolen from a residence in Araluen.

A resolution plan was formed, and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the stolen motor vehicle in East Side at 5.15am. The vehicle proceeded to flee the area, driving dangerously which resulted in a police pursuit being terminated.

The vehicle travelled west on the Tanami Highway and was later located abandoned.
