The Territory Government has today announced the Alice Springs Youth Curfew will now end at 6am Tuesday 16 April.
The Youth Curfew will be operational for all of the school holidays and remains in place to cover the High Risk Area, with the Emergency Situation Declaration to also end on Tuesday 16 April. The continued declaration allows for a curfew for people under 18 years old, and is enforced by Police.
We've seen very encouraging results with the introduction of the Youth Curfew and even after it has ended Police, the Departments of Education, Territory Families and other service providers will continue to work together much closer than they were doing so before the Youth Curfew.
If someone under 18 years old is in the CBD past 6pm and before 6am without a valid reason they will be taken home or to a safe place.
The Territory Emergency Management Committee provided this advice and will continue to monitor the situation on the ground in Alice Springs.
