Popular Uralla café The Alternate Root is opening at the Armidale Regional Airport catering for regional travellers with the same high quality products we've come to expect from the Uralla based business.
The airport café has remained vacant since the 2020 COVID outbreak and the loss of the service has been keenly felt by the travelling public. The Alternate Root Café was approached after an Expression of Interest process earlier this year failed to reach a commitment from interested candidates.
They have agreed to extend their café operation to the airport, initially for a six month trial period and subsequent longer lease.
Armidale mayor Sam Coupland said it was great news for airport users with a quality café tenant now in place.
"I am a regular airport user and like many travellers have missed the opportunity for a brew or a snack before a flight," said mayor Coupland.
"The Alternate Root Café has an excellent reputation and will provide some much needed vibrancy and a great offering of quality food and beverages. They have also expressed an interest in vacant retail space at the airport where they can sell their own and other produce from across the region."
"Not forgetting the terminal cafe has a nice view and is set in a dynamic and interesting environment. It makes for a great place for a coffee or lunch, not only for the travelling public but the wider community as well. I encourage people to consider checking it out and support the Alternate Root when they open in November."
Two hours of free parking with no ticket required is also available at the airport and makes the new café a great destination for a catch-up with friends and family.
