Ambulance Victoria Names New Quality, Clinical Chief

After an extensive recruitment campaign, Dr Tegwyn McManamny has been appointed to the role of Executive Director Quality and Clinical Innovation at Ambulance Victoria (AV).

A widely-respected clinical leader, Dr McManamny has built an impressive career since joining AV as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic in 2010, going on to become a qualified Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) Paramedic and undertaking several senior clinical roles within the organisation.

Alongside her passion to help others, Dr McManamny also has extensive clinical and academic qualifications, including a PhD in rural health, gerontology and health education, and further tertiary qualifications in health leadership and management, teaching, and clinical governance.

She is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paramedicine at Monash University, a Director of the Beechworth Health Service and a Member of the Australasian Institute of Clinical Governance and the Australasian College of Paramedicine.

In January 2024, Dr McManamny was appointed the Director of Clinical Safety and Quality at Albury Wodonga Health, a role she undertook while continuing to support AV in clinical MICA shifts.

Dr McManamny then returned to AV full-time as the acting Executive Director Quality and Clinical Innovation role where she strongly advocated for a patient centred approach, helping us to continue to deliver the highest quality clinical care to the Victorian community.

"I am thrilled to have been appointed to this important role, which plays a major part in leading the provision of quality patient care at AV: care that is safe, timely and person-centred," Dr McManamny said.

"One key goal for me is to drive clinical innovation at AV, using high-quality research to drive positive patient outcomes and translate learnings into practice.

"I am most looking forward to engaging more with consumers and strengthening our approach to a positive safety culture here at AV. Everyone has a role to play in safety and quality."

Throughout her career, Dr McManamny has maintained a dedication to delivering improved outcomes for our community and supporting and mentoring other paramedics and first responders.
