Police have seized firearm parts, ammunition, and cannabis as part of a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) operation in the state’s Riverina Region, NSW Police say.
In November 2015, the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor commenced an investigation into the activities of the Burwood Chapter of the Rebels OMCG and their associates.
As part of their ongoing inquiries, investigators identified associates in the Griffith area and further investigations were conducted.
About 7.45am yesterday, Strike Force Raptor, assisted by Public Order and Riot Squad, Griffith Local Area Command, and Australian Federal Police officers, served an FPO on a 34-year-old man at a property on White Road, Tharbogang.
Shortly after, an FPO was served on a 65-year-old man at a property on Mallinson Road, Lake Wyangan.
An additional FPO search was conducted at a property on Lakes Road, Lake Wyangan.
Following searches of the properties, police seized ammunition, various firearm parts, and a small amount of cannabis. The firearm parts will be examined by specialist ballistic officers.
The 34-year-old man was issued with a Cannabis Caution.
Inquiries are continuing.
Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
