Ms Sharkie secured $2.6 million from the previous Federal Government in 2020 for Stage 4 of the Amy Gillett Bikeway, which will stretch from Mount Torrens to Birdwood. The State Government subsequently committed to $2.6 million.
Council have committed an additional $500,000 to cover the shortfall in Federal and State Government funding and will also undertake ongoing maintenance of the new stage.
Total funding for the pro ject is $5.7 million.
This funding commitment ends years of uncertainty about the completion of the Bikeway.
