Andrew Christie to lead Victorian women's state team

Cricket Victoria has appointed Andrew Christie as the new Head Coach of the Victorian women's team following the resignation of Dulip Samaraweera.

Samaraweera was appointed to the role in recent weeks but has tendered his resignation prior to commencing.

Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins said "During the recruitment process Dulip had expressed a desire to make a specific coaching appointment in his support team. That appointment was unable to be facilitated due to internal policies we have in place," Cummins said.

"Following further conversations, Dulip decided he would prefer not to remain in the role."

Andrew Christie joined Cricket Victoria in 2021 leading the Female Emerging Player Program.

He was previously a Premiership-winning coach with Dandenong's women's program and has worked as an assistant coach with the Melbourne Renegades in WBBL.
