The Museum of the Riverina hosted award-winning journalist Andrew Urban at a free event on Wednesday 16 October titled 'Andrew Urban Fronts Up LIVE: Ordinary Aussies, Extraordinary Stories'.
Andrew Urban, most famous for his SBS TV documentary series Front Up that aired for 10 years from 1994 to 2004, talked about how the program came about, and showed excerpts from some of the episodes.
Front Up was centered around roving interviews with people that Urban encountered whilst on the street, demonstrating that ordinary people can lead extraordinary lives and have amazing stories to tell.
His other works include Urban Cinefile, a weekly movie magazine that Urban first launched with his wife Louise in 1997, the ABC TV documentary Brilliant Careers, and his crime fiction novel If You Promise Not to Tell.
More recently, Urban's writing has been focusing on wrongful criminal convictions with his investigative non-fiction book Murder by the Prosecution, and his blog Wrongful Convictions Report.
Manager Museum of the Riverina, Luke Grealy said the museum was pleased to host Andrew Urban at the Museum of the Riverina- Botanic Gardens site.
"Andrew Urban spoke about on his journalistic work reflecting the diversity of Australia's population that he has observed over the last three decades.
"Audience members then took part in a facilitated question and answer session, followed by lunch and a chance to meet him."
