Premier Roger Cook has today announced Angela Kelly as Western Australia's new Agent General for the United Kingdom and Europe region.
As Agent General, Ms Kelly will oversee the Invest and Trade Western Australia offices in London and Frankfurt and work alongside the State's Investment and Trade Commissioners to attract investment and promote trade opportunities for local businesses.
In 2023, the United Kingdom and Europe was Western Australia's fourth largest trading partner, with $14.7billion of goods traded.
Ms Kelly will begin in the position in October 2024, and has been appointed for a nine-month term. She will undertake a period of induction before being deployed to London.
Having held senior executive positions within the Departments of Health and Premier and Cabinet, Ms Kelly brings decades of experience in system performance, financial management, strategic planning and corporate governance.
She also has extensive knowledge of the State's health and medical life sciences ecosystem, which is an important sector to support Western Australia's economic diversification.
Ms Kelly follows John Langoulant AO, who will complete his three-year term as Agent General next month.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"The United Kingdom and Europe continues to be an important investment and trade market for the State, and will play a key role in our economic diversification.
"As a well-respected and experienced senior executive within the Western Australian Government, Ms Kelly is the right choice for this position, to promote our State's key industries across the region.
"I would like to congratulate Ms Kelly on her appointment and thank Mr Langoulant for supporting and advocating for our State as Agent General over the past three years."
