Annual Pet Registration Renewals Due

Residents of Darwin are required to renew their dog and cat registrations by Sunday 1 September.

For those with new pets, dogs and cats must be registered and microchipped if they are older than three months or they have been in Darwin for three months or longer.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said registering and microchipping pets was a quick and simple process that ensures dogs and cats are kept safe.

"Registration renewals can be done online, in person at the Civic Centre or at any Australia Post Office in Darwin," Mr Vatskalis said.

"For those with new pets, who people who are new to Darwin, pets can be registered for the first time via completing the online registration form or by visiting the Civic Centre or any Australia Post Office in Darwin.

"Microchipping is a condition of registration in Darwin and helps reunite lost pets with their owners.

"Pets provide us with companionship and provide a sense of security and belonging, and we thank the community for doing the right thing when it comes to pet ownership," he said.

City of Darwin strives to ensure that dogs, cats, their owners and neighbours live together in safety and harmony in the Darwin community.

Microchipping is available at the Council Pound and RSPCA, as well as vet surgeries.
